Title favorite FC Bayern Munich has suffered a clear defeat in the basketball Bundesliga.
Coach Andrea Trinchieri’s team lost 75:106 (30:49) to EWE Baskets Oldenburg and thus missed out on league leaders Telekom Baskets Bonn, who played more games. The Munich could not confirm the positive trend after the clear Euroleague home win against Belgrade. The game in Oldenburg took place less than 24 hours after the Euroleague duel due to corona-related scheduling difficulties.
The hosts’ best thrower was playmaker Max Heidegger with 31 points. Jason George (20), Joshua Obiesie (18) and Andreas Obst (15) scored in double digits for Munich. Oldenburg got an important success in the relegation battle and now has four more wins than the Fraport Skyliners from Frankfurt and the Giessen 46ers, who lost 81:95 in Heidelberg.
