The canceled Russian Grand Prix in Sochi will be permanently replaced by Qatar. As a result, the record number of 23 races is maintained this season.
Sochi was previously canceled due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The grand prix was scheduled for September 25.
Last year Formula 1 was present for the first time at the Losail circuit in Doha, which is mainly known for MotoGP. This year the race was not on the roll, because it would clash with the World Cup in Qatar, but the end of September is appropriate.
Formula 1 management (FOM) already has a ten-year grand prix deal with Qatar, starting next year.
