Nothing to do for theAllianz Trieste against the Virtus Segafredo Bologna. In a PalaTrieste finally reopened to 100 percent capacity (but the empty spaces were still large) the green disc is for the Italian champions who thus condemn the red and white to the seventh consecutive defeat (eighth considering the final four of the Italian cup). A game, that of the black Vs, conducted for the entire 40 minutes and put on ice already after the first ten minutes of play. Trieste then tried the desperate recovery in the last ten minutes, going very close to making a connection that at that point had something miraculous, but the greater experience of the boys of Scariolo in the final and decisive two minutes he made a difference.
Initial quintet formed by Banks, Davis, Mian, Delia and Grazulis for Trieste. A balanced start in the very first minutes, with Grazulis and Banks responding to the first virtussini baskets, then Hackett e co. they begin to dig the first furrow with an 11-0 run. Time-out called by Ciani to try to heal the bleeding, but Jaiteh is not of the same opinion and after the break he brings him to 4-20 with two consecutive supports. Mian and Konate finally bring Trieste in double figures, but 7 minutes have already passed and Virtus is already at 26. The situation does not change and at the end of the first quarter the score says 16-34.
The music does not change in the second period, despite the rotations operated by Ciani, but the red and white are unable to reduce the disadvantage, demonstrating obvious difficulties under the basket. Grazulis e Banks momentarily ignite the building with two consecutive triples (the first Trieste achievements from 6.75) that bring Trieste to -15 with scarcely two minutes from the interval. The assist to the kiss of Davis for the triple from Banks’ corner at 27 ”from the second siren they allow Allianz to go on -12 (40-52) but at the interval the result always sees Segafredo ahead for 40-54.
Trieste tries to make up for the disadvantage at the beginning of the second half with the verve of Delia and Grazulis, momentarily reaches -13 (51-64) but nothing seems to be able to affect the safety of the Italian champions, who continue to keep their opponents at a distance until two minutes from the sound of the third siren. Only at that point Konate and Grazulis bring the red and white under the double-digit disadvantage for the first time since the start of the match (64-71), before Cordinier’s two points at the edge of the siren. The PalaTrieste returns to the bedlam of the best times and the atmosphere heats up. The last ten minutes start with the right heat to try the sprint from behind, but the two consecutive triples of Teodosic and Alibegovic cool the enthusiasm of the public. Trieste, however, is there and goes to -5 thanks to the Campogrande bomb and the transition by Banks, immediately canceled by the penetration of Weems. Three other points from Davis and Trieste goes to -4 (79-83). Banks keeps the Allianz afloat and the ball starts to burn on the hands of the black Vs, but it is only a momentary slip because Cordinier and a double Jaiteh in the final seconds they deliver the victory and the consequent two points to the guests.
