The Jahner Tennis Herren 55 recently lost their final game in the winter regional league with a bang 5-1, but for the Peiners the emphasis is on the “1” in this case. Because Hans-Heinrich Brandes and Roland Stabbauer at least won the second double, the MTV father Jahn Peine just saved himself to the penultimate place and thus managed to stay up in the league. “Next year we will go up to the men’s 60 and can continue in the regional league. That’s why staying up in the league was so important to us,” reports Captain Brandes.

MTV father Jahn Peine – SuS Waldenau 1:5 (3:10 sets, 41:60 games). Peiner’s plan was actually very different: they had complete confidence in their number 1, Roland Stabbauer. However, he lost his match against his opponent, who is 0.5 performance classes better, with 4:6, 6:1 and 5:10. Behind them, the Peiners had problems with the line-up. “I’ve never experienced anything like this before,” reports Hans-Heinrich Brandes.
Michael Collisi (0: 6, 2: 6) set up the Peiners, but after his meniscus operation, Jahner was not really resilient. Andree Liekefett was completely absent from the individual game, which meant that Brandes (2:6, 4:6) and Ferdinand Sokler (6:7, 5:7) moved up within the team. “It looked dangerous after the individuals,” says Brandes. At least Sokler scratched the needed success for the Peiner.
They finally picked it up in doubles. The Jahner set up the ailing Collisi and Liekefett (0:6, 0:6) in order to be able to avoid the strong doubles of the guests. Thus, Brandes and Stabbauer (6:2, 6:0) had a much easier game. “We are well coordinated and have been in top form,” says Brandes, happy about the victory in the doubles, which still brought Peiner into the league.
