Mercato: Wrong, bientt le jackpot Liverpool? – Football

After months of negotiations, Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah is finally closing in on a deal with his bosses to extend his contract, which expires in June 2023. To reach common ground, the Egyptian reportedly made an effort on the financial plan.

Mohamed Salah is expected to extend Liverpool.

Mo really wants the club to be ambitious, we have been for the past few years and we still are. Of course, we can’t do much more, it’s like that. I think it’s mostly Mo to decide. I believe the club did what they could do.

In early March, Liverpool manager Jrgen Klopp was patient about the future of his winger Mohamed Salah. Under contract until June 2023, the Egyptian international could not however agree with his leaders concerning an extension.

A very close agreement?

But after several months of negotiations, a positive outcome finally seems close! Indeed, according to information from the Mirror on Sunday, the two parties are on the verge of finding common ground. Thus, the former AS Roma player should soon sign a three-year lease, until June 2025, with an option for an additional year.

This would obviously be a huge relief for Klopp, who has always made it clear to the media that he intends to keep his star for the long term. For Salah, this extension seems totally deserved because of his still exceptional performance: 28 goals and 10 assists in 37 games in all competitions for this financial year 2021-2022.

An XXL salary in perspective!

How can we explain the unblocking of this long-frozen situation? Obviously, Salah would have decided to revise his demands downwards to allow discussions to be relaunched. Initially, the Pharaoh demanded a salary similar to that of Cristiano Ronaldo Manchester United, estimated at more than 590,000 euros per week. And finally he could be satisfied an increase, all the same significant, more than 490,000 euros per week. A nice jackpot for one of the best players in the world.
