The Spartans will play the finals for the twelfth time in independent Czech cup history. The journey of Pavel Vrba’s charges to the finals led through Líšeň, Teplice, Slavia and Jablonec. In three matches, the Prague team kept a clean sheet.
For the third time, Slovácko was among the two best teams of the year. Martin Svědík’s charges passed through the Zbuzany, Karviná, Olomouc and Hradec Králové to the finals. They then decided on the procedures to the quarterfinals and semifinals only after the basic playing time.
Both rivals have not met in a separate Czech cup yet. Nevertheless, Sparta has something to return to its opponent – in the last league force measurement, it left Uherské Hradiště with a high defeat of 0: 4.
The last time Slovácko presented itself in the finals was in 2005, when it lost to the closest possible difference to Teplice. “I remember the finals alive. At that time I was on it in Olomouc and I had goosebumps from the atmosphere that prevailed there. In fact, I was more interested in what happened in the stands than football, “said Slovácko captain Vlastimil Daníček for the club’s website, who wants to fight with his teammates to win the first club cup trophy.
