The American JJ Spaun is proclaimed champion in San Antonio

Sports Writing (USA), Apr 3 (EFE).- American golfer JJ Spaun was proclaimed champion of the Valero Texas Open in San Antonio (Texas, USA) this Sunday.

This is the first win for Spaun on the PGA Tour.

Four golfers entered Sunday tied for the lead: Americans JJ Spaun, Brandt Snedeker and Beau Hossler and South African Dylan Frittelli.

However, Spaun left his rivals behind on the final day to take the San Antonio title.

Spaun finished the tournament with 275 strokes (13 under par), two strokes less than his immediate pursuers, the Australian Matt Jones and the American Matt Kuchar, both with 277.

The champion delivered a card of 69 shots on the last day and was much stronger than the other co-leaders on Saturday (72 for Hossler, 73 for Frittelli and 75 for Snedeker).

Chilean Mito Pereira finished with 280 hits, 5 behind Spaun, while Venezuelan Jhonattan Vegas finished his participation in San Antonio with 281 hits, 6 behind who ended up taking the tournament.
