One hundred and sixty young judokas on the tatami mats

Charny-Orée-de-Puisaye. 160 participants in the interclub day. The judo section of the Union Sportive de Charny-Orée-de-Puisaye (USCOP) gathered, on Sunday, at the gymnasium of the town, more than one hundred and sixty children on the occasion of an interclub day organized with the participation of the clubs de Courtenay, Châtillon-Coligny, Toucy, Migennes, Saint-Florentin as well as the Poyaudin Judo club.

“The opportunity for the little ones to train with judokas from other clubs”

Activities for young people aged 4 to 7, provided by Thierry Lataste, judo teacher, 5 e dan, inaugurated the meeting with warm-ups, lessons and fights with playful refereeing and without competition. “The opportunity for the little ones to train with judokas from other clubs by performing positional games and working on the bases of the falls”, explains Corinne Nicolas, the president elected on March 25, during the renewal of the office.

Around fifty young fighters at the youngest, minimal and chick level took part in the afternoon in the traditional spring tournament organized each year. “A friendly tournament, by pool and by morphological group with 3 to 4 fights per age category”. All were rewarded: a gold medal for the winners, a silver for the second and finally bronze for the others.

This tournament was also an opportunity for the minors to prepare for the regional championships which will take place next weekend in Quétigny (Côte-d’Or). “Seven young people from our club were selected for this event last week during the departmental championships of Migennes”, rejoices Corinne Nicolas.
