Transfer fees paid to brokers have shrunk considerably, Anderlecht remains the leader | Jupiler Pro League

All Belgian professional football clubs together paid 7 million euros less this season in transfer fees to brokers and intermediaries. This is evident from a report that the Royal Belgian Football Association (KBVB) put online today.

Brokers catch less money

The KBVB publishes an annual transfer report that includes the two mercato’s of the season. The analysis for the period from April 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022 was put online today.

A first striking observation: the transfer fees paid to brokers have fallen considerably.

In the 2021-2022 season, brokers and intermediaries in our country received 31 million euros. That is more than 7 million euros less than last season or a decrease of 19 percent.

Just like last year, the club that spent the most on intermediaries is Anderlecht. Purple & White had to give 4.4 million euros to real estate agents. Although that is almost 3 million euros less than last year.

At Club Brugge, the amount paid to brokers has been halved: from 5.2 to 2.6 million euros. Antwerp, on the other hand, spent 1.5 million euros more on brokers.

Much more transfer spend

Another observation: the transfer fees – especially outgoing – have increased a lot compared to last season.

All professional clubs deposited a total of 150.2 million euros for players (compared to 123.3 million in the previous season).

In total, professional clubs also received 198.5 million euros in transfer fees (compared to 196 million euros in the previous season). That amount has therefore almost remained the status quo.
