The Professional Basketball Super League would have a new estimated date

After a new meeting between the directors of the LPB and the SLB to continue advancing in the first edition of the tournament that will merge both entities, the Professional Basketball Super League, unofficial details of the agreement have been known.

The fourth date given for the start of Venezuelan basketball in 2022

For the fourth month of 2022, four different estimated start dates have already been shared publicly or by sources close to various media. At the end of 2021, there was talk of March, after mid-April, it was extended to May and according to the latest report by the editor of Cancha Latina Raúl Cedeño, the day chosen for the opening game of the SPB would be July 8.

In addition, the Dos Quintetos portal announced that the president of this new organization would be the boss of Cocodrilos de Caracas, José Guerrero.

The LPB has not had any post-pandemic actions, although it showed intentions to resume the competition. They go for four years since its last edition in 2018, followed by the 2019 LPB Cup that Trotamundos de Carabobo won.

For its part, the SLB also introduced the concept of “Copa” to close 2021 in December, in which Guaiqueríes de Margarita cut the 14-year drought without a title.

It would still be necessary to confirm the number of teams (there is talk of around 20 approved quintets) of the new SPB, its format, duration and other issues regarding the rights of the players of the teams that return to the professional courts.
