The Councilor for Sports, Rubn Antoanzas, met yesterday afternoon with fifty athletes from the Pedro Fernndez Gymnasium in recognition of the latest achievements in national and international judo, karate and jiu jitsu championships.
In the last two months alone, they have managed to win 14 gold, 18 silver and 20 bronze medals in these three disciplines, in addition to other good rankings.
At the meeting, the Councilor for Sports congratulated them on these results and was proud that the name of Logroo is known to them in Spain and in the many countries in which they have competed.
He also thanked them for their commitment to sport, as a school of values and an element for healthy development. A binomial, Sport and Health, which during the evolution of the coronavirus has been fundamental.
Antoanzas recalled the visit he made in the first moments of the pandemic and the ability they showed to adapt their sports routines, “a courage that I am sure is the same that you apply in competitions and that lead you to achieve these triumphs.” “Sport was treated as the problem and not the solution.”
In this sense, he reiterated the criticism of the restrictions that the Government of La Rioja placed on the practice of sports and his claim that this activity should be classified as “essential”.
