Gilwan Nelson and Pedro Alcequie combined to score 52 points in the Sosúa Sharks’ 109-98 win over Correcaminos de la Parte Baja, in the game that kicked off the XXVI Puerto Plata Superior Basketball Tournament.
The first half ended 56-52 in favor of the Sharks, who are led by coach Ezequías Cordero.
Nelson was the best for the winners with 31 points, Pedro Alcequie seconded him with 21 units, 8 rebounds, 11 assists and 4 steals, Diosel Ulloa 17 points and 8 rebounds, Emmanuel Marte had a double-double with 14 baskets, 11 sacks and 3 blocks and Joshuan Jiménez 13 points and distributed 11 assists.
In the cause of losses, Curtis Hollis stood out with 21 points, 5 assists, 3 steals and 3 blocks, Kelvin Peña scored 20 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists, Randy Lagombra 18 points and 4 assists and Junior Martínez 17 points and 4 steals.
The Sosúa Sharks dominated the rebounding 46-32.
