Basketball – Double dose defeat for Nanterre

Nanterre was coming out of a really frustrating defeat against Paris Basketball, where everything was down to three points. But there was no time to ruminate, because the next deadline for Pascal Donnadieu and his men was going to happen very quickly. Too fast, perhaps? And more than a deadline, it was a double deadline for Nanterre.

With in the first act, a trip to Portel. On this match, the regrets will arrive from the first quarter for the Altoséquanais, with a difference in the score of 10 points at the end of these first ten minutes. Le Portel must do everything to avoid relegation, and it shows in view of his involvement. Nanterre will not be able to catch up and will finally bow with the score of 87-71. Luke Fischer was undoubtedly one of the best Nanterriens of the match, but his efforts were not enough.

This blow to the head, too, had to be quickly put aside since the second act arrived four days later, a clash at home against a direct competitor: JL Bourg. In the first quarter, apart from Chris Horton, the Nanterriens are not successful, which allows Bourg to finish in front of the score. There is nevertheless better in the second quarter, even if the visitors remain in front at halftime. The second half will be much tighter. But the great efforts of Nantes will not be enough, at least to one point since JL Bourg won 66 to 65.

How frustrating. What double frustration! With these two defeats, the Nanterre 92 is in 9th place in the standings and therefore sees, for the moment, its dreams of playoffs escaping it. The next match on the calendar does not necessarily look obvious since it is a trip to Fos, which is one place in the relegation zone and will therefore want to fight for its survival in the top flight.
