It was drumming blown for Hanne Desmet in her series. Our compatriot tried to position herself well, but went into the last lap in 4th place. With a final sprint she was caught as the fastest 3rd. Stijn Desmet had less trouble with his series. He again took first place in the 1,000 meters and qualified for the quarterfinals. Ward Petré stayed on the trail of the front runners for a long time, but became 4th and last in his series. The adventure of our compatriot is also over on the 1,000 meters. †

  6. 17h40. No Suzanne Schulting. Suzanne Schulting will not be there tomorrow when the World Championship short track starts. The Dutch wanted to defend her 5 (!) world titles in Canada, but a corona infection throws a spanner in the works. In any case, it is one tough competitor less for Hanne Desmet, although as a good friend of Schulting she would rather have seen a fair fight. Desmet himself recovered from a corona infection just in time for this World Cup. †
  7. 5 pm 39. I am mentally broken. After a long season I felt completely ready to defend my 5 world titles. I did everything possible not to test positive. Unfortunately, that didn’t work. Suzanne Schulting.
