With so many changes in the first round, the new version of the Mock Draft NFL 2022. Before starting, I would like to clarify that this simulation, unlike my first one, is not one that seems sensible from my point of view, nor is it something that I would do, but it is an exercise that takes into account all the recent rumors and is a Mock Predictive draft of what I think will happen on April 28
First Round Reaches, Steals and Knockdowns:
- Reaches: Travon Walker, Malik Willis, Kenny Pickett, Jermaine Johnson, Tyler Smith, Kenyon Green, Christian Watson
- robberies en primera ronda: Derek Stingley Jr., Trent McDuffie, George Karlaftis, Charles Cross
- Slides: Bernhard Raimann, Skyy Moore, Lewis Cine, Jalen Pitre, Leo Chenal
Selection 1 | |
Jacksonville Jaguars |
|
Aidan Hutchinson
EDGE, Michigan |
At this point there is no Mock Draft that does not have a Hutch at number one. His leadership, combined with his sensational talent – where he compares himself to the likes of Myles Garrett or Joey Bosa – makes him the best of them all. |
Selection 2 | |
Detroit Lions |
|
Travon Walker
EDGE, Georgia |
Because of his incredible physique, teams believe he’s a Top 5 prospect despite how little he dominated in college statistically. He is undoubtedly one of the picks that generates the most doubts if it happens. |
Selection 3 | |
Houston Texans |
|
Kayvon Thibodeaux
EDGE, Oregon |
The Texans take the second-best pass rusher in the Draft and, in terms of raw talent, possibly the best in the class. With an elite first step, he can completely dominate from Day 1. |
Selection 4 | |
New York Jets |
|
Ahmad Gardner
CB, Cincinnati |
Gardner and the Jets are bound to happen. Saleh didn’t have a dominant CB in his defense last season and this season with Gardner that has to change. “Sauce” has never allowed a TD in his career. |
TRADE ALERT: The Saints send their pick 16 and their pick 19 to the New York Giants for pick 5. Selection 5 |
|
New Orleans Saints |
|
Malik Willis
QB, Liberty |
Willis is the QB with the most upside of the entire class, proof of this is its high percentage of Big Time Throws of 11% and his 86 forced missed tackles. On the other hand, he’s too raw a talent who didn’t face good competition. |
Selection 6 | |
Carolina Panthers |
|
Kenny Pickett
QB, Pittsburgh |
From my point of view, this would be the reach biggest of 2022. After an unforgettable year on his part, Pickett is still a slow-play player who if it hadn’t been for this lean year, he would have left on Day 2 or 3. |
Selection 7 | |
New York Giants (vía Chicago Bears) |
|
Evan Neal
T, Alabama |
At 2.4m tall, Neal is the most dominant athlete in the class and has played LT, RT and even LG. With his imposing physique and his speed, it will be difficult to move him around. A duo with Andrew Thomas puts the Giants to dream |
Selection 8 | |
Atlanta Falcons |
|
Kyle Hamilton
S, Our Lady |
Even though there has been talk of the Falcons going down in the Draft, if Hamilton goes down, they won’t hesitate twice. It’s the kind of player that changes the culture and completely dominates a defense. |
Selection 9 | |
Seattle Seahawks (vía Denver Broncos) |
|
Ikem Ekwonu
T, North Carolina State |
Since Pete Carroll will now have complete control of the offense, he will be able to impose his predominantly running game, and the right way to do that is with the best T in the game. Ekwonu dominated with 18 major blocks on carries. |
Selection 10 | |
New York Jets (vía Seattle Seahawks) |
|
Drake London
WR, USC |
The Jets take the best WR of this entire class, at 2 meters tall he has everything to be the next Mike Evans and dominate this corps of WR. The Jets want to give Zach Wilson their full support and this is the way. |
TRADE ALERT: The Chargers trade their 17th pick, their 79th pick and their 2023 third-round pick to the Washington Commanders for the 11th pick. Selection 11 |
|
Los Angeles Chargers |
|
Charles Cross
T, Mississippi State |
The missing piece for this team arrives in Los Angeles. Cross could very well be the first T taken in the Draft and he would have no complaints. His technique is simply the best in the class, with his feet lighter than a feather. |
Selection 12 | |
Minnesota Vikings |
|
Derek Stingley Jr.
CB, LSU |
If this happens, Stingley would be the steal of the Draft. With his Pro Day, he showed that he is physically well, which is his only problem. He had the best freshman season we’ve seen in the last decade and is a lock on coverage. |
Selection 13 | |
Houston Texans (vía Cleveland Browns) |
|
Garrett Wilson
WR, Ohio State |
Every time the teams fall more in love with this player for his spectacular body control. The Texans have a need at every one of their positions, and taking the second most valuable position after QB on offense is the way to do it. |
Selection 14 | |
Baltimore Ravens |
|
Jermaine Johnson III
EDGE, Florida State |
As much as the NFL likes it, Johnson will be hard-pressed to get to this spot. They like him, above all, because of the workload he handled along with his physicality. However, his stats don’t translate well to the NFL and he’s more of a Top 28 player. |
Selection 15 | |
Philadelphia Eagles (vía Miami Dolphins): |
|
Jordan Davis
DT, Georgia |
Mr. Combine it’s a great fit for this team that doesn’t need him to perform and play a lot of snaps right away. Slightly higher than where you’d take it, but for how overbearing it is, it’s worth it. |
Selection 16 | |
New York Giants (vía New Orleans Saints) |
|
Trent McDuffie
CB, Washington |
If a talent like McDuffie drops this far, the Giants can’t drop him any lower. He is simply the best zone CB in the class, allowing just 44% completions. |
Selection 17 | |
Washington Commanders (vía Los Angeles Chargers) |
|
Devin Lloyd
LB, Utah |
Without a doubt the most complete LB in the class gets to improve the middle side of Washington’s defense that was the weakest point, with Jamin Davis playing at a low level. If they put Lloyd on, he’s going to dominate. |
Selection 18 | |
Philadelphia Eagles (vía New Orleans Saints) |
|
Chris Olave
WR, Ohio State |
The WR with the highest ground comes to a team that can’t fail anymore at this position and Olave is the definition of a safe pick. As elite as he is running routes, Ohio State’s will be a foil to DeVonta Smith at worst. |
Selection 19 | |
New York Giants (vía Philadelphia Eagles) |
|
George Karlaftis
DE, Purdue |
If he can drop this incredible talent this far, it will be a massive steal. Karlaftis, unlike Walker and Johnson III, has stats that translate seamlessly into the NFL. The Greek had a 23.6% Win Rate, being a 98th percentile. |
Selection 20 | |
Pittsburgh Steelers |
|
Trevor Penning
T, Northern Iowa |
Penning was the most dominant T in the running game in 2021, earning a perfect grade in PFF from 99.9. With his aggressiveness and blocking power, he’ll be ideal for opening up space in an offense that has struggled to do so. |
TRADE ALERT: The Chiefs trade their 29th pick, their 94th pick and their 2023 fourth-round pick to the New England Patriots for the 21st pick.
Selection 21 |
|
Kansas City Chiefs (vía New England Patriots) |
|
Jameson Williams
WR, Alabama |
I’ve heard the Chiefs have a crush on Williams. and that’s why I think they would do everything to get it. It is the best vertical weapon and could have a similar treatment to what Tyreek Hill received; he averaged 20 yards per catch and completely dominated after the catch. |
Selection 22 | |
Green Bay Packers (via Las Vegas Raiders) |
|
Devonte Wyatt
DT, Georgia |
Seeing as elite WRs are off their radar, the Packers will be conservative at this position once again and grab a player who just makes sense on this defense. Wyatt is the perfect running game complement for Kenny Clark. |
Selection 23 | |
Arizona Cardinals |
|
Tyler Linderbaum
C, Iowa |
The best center prospect in more than a decade — impossible to let go, and a perfect comparison to Jason Kelce. His current man, Rodney Hudson, had the worst season of his career and was one of the worst in the NFL so the Cardinals with Linderbaum take a step into the future. |
Selection 24 | |
Dallas Cowboys |
|
Treylon Burks
WR, Arkansas |
Burks isn’t a WR “Z” in the NFL, but in an offense like the Cowboys’ it doesn’t matter. This team has shown time and time again that they love to draft athletic players and Burks is that with a physical style of play. |
Selection 25 | |
Buffalo Bills |
|
Andrew Booth Jr.
CB, Clemson |
Despite still being a draft, he’s a great CB2 and will make an immediate impact alongside Tre’Davious White. I may have the lightest feet in the position |
Selection 26 | |
Tennessee Titans |
|
Zion Johnson
G, Boston College |
Selecting Johnson simply has no room for error. He is the most prepared guard to play in the NFL being dominant in the running game and protecting the QB from him. We never saw him lose in college. |
Selection 27 | |
Tampa Bay Buccaneers |
|
Kenyon Green
G, Texas A&M |
Despite his terrible display at the Combine, teams don’t seem concerned with a five-star prospect who has played every position except center. |
Selection 28 | |
Green Bay Packers |
|
Christian Watson
WR, North Dakota State |
Even though I think this is a reachWatson is a fit perfect for the Packers with his ability to run routes and adjust his body as a contortionist. He averaged 4.33 yards per route rushed, ranking in the 99th percentile. |
Selection 29 | |
New England Patriots (vía Kansas City Chiefs) |
|
Nakobe Dean
LB, Georgia |
With concerns about his size, Dean has fallen on everyone’s boards. Despite that, he is someone extremely agile who can be anywhere with an IQ to process plays at tremendous speed. |
Selection 30 | |
Kansas City Chiefs |
|
Boye Mafe
EDGE, Minnesota |
One of those who have raised their value the most in 2022 thanks to their Combine and Senior Bowl. The way he explodes after the first pass is amazing and he had a 90.9 PFF rating in true passing sets. |
Selection 31 | |
Cincinnati Bengals |
|
Tyler Smith
T, Tulsa |
This would be one of the reaches Biggest players in the Draft because of the need for the offensive line. Smith has exceptional power in the running game, outclassing Neal in big blocks in this area. It is still a project to develop. |
Selection 32 | |
Detroit Lions (vía Los Angeles Rams) |
|
Desmond Ridder
QB, Cincinnati |
My favorite QB of the entire Draft, if Ridder makes it to 32, there should be a party in Detroit. This player not only has the highest IQ of the entire class, but he can also win the run game and has superior shooting mechanics than Willis and Pickett. A leader who, at the end of the day, we will see as the best QB in the class. |
