25-year-old Belgian Pierre De Froidmont surprises with 6th place in WB mountain bike in Brazil | WB mountain bike

Pierre De Froidmont was able to immediately mix between the top riders on the first mountain bike World Cup round of the season, in Petropolis (Bra). The victory went to world champion Nino Schurter.

Pierre De Froidmont had secured a good starting position thanks to a strong performance in the short track on Friday. He was also able to maintain himself well between the top players in the initial phase, sank in the middle part, but eventually moved up to 6th place, his best result ever in a World Cup.

The victory was reserved for Nino Schurter, who equals the record of Julien Absaslon with 33 World Cup victories. Schurter had to beat Maxime Marotte in the sprint for it.

With the women, Pauline Ferrand-Prévot was unable to cash in on her victory in the short track. She had to give up and paved the way for Rebecca McConnell. It is the Australian’s first World Cup win.
