Records galore, goals, cards…: the classic phase of Division 1A in numbers

It’s time to take stock.

Mechelen scored 57 goals, including 36 by Belgian players, the highest total in D1A ahead of FC Bruges (32). Seraing and Ostend only scored 2 goals via Belgian players.

The Union have scored 57 of their 73 goals thanks to foreign scorers, Denis Undav leading with his 25 goals.

By scoring 5 goals at Standard (2-5 success), Michael Frey became the first player to score a quintuple since Wesley Sonck in 2002 (6 goals during Genk – Mechelen, 9-0).

For the eighth season in a row, a foreign player (Danis Undav) completed the classic phase at the top of the scoring charts. The last Belgian to have occupied this place before the start of the playoffs remains Michy Batshuayi, in 2014 (19 goals). It was also the last time that five Belgian players were among the Top 10 top scorers, like this season.

Anderlecht clinched the biggest victory of the season: 0-7 at Beerschot. It was also the biggest away success since that of FC Bruges in Mons in 2004 (0-9).

Only 5 teams have occupied first place in the standings in 34 days: SC Charleroi, Kortrijk, Eupen, FC Bruges and Union, in the lead since the 11th day.

The Beerschot occupied the last place from the 3rd to the 34th day, that is to say 32 weeks in a row. Ostend (1st day) and Antwerp (2nd) had been the two red lanterns before the Antwerp women.

The Union finished the classic phase with the best attack (73 goals scored) and the best defense (27 goals conceded). It is the 6th time that a team has achieved this in 13 playoff editions after FC Bruges in 2020-2021, 2017-2018 and 2014-2015 and Anderlecht in 2012-2013 and 2009-2010.
