Hidalgo judoka Paulina Garnica will participate in her first Pan American Adult Championship, in Lima, Peru, the appointment is next weekend with which she ends her stage as a Junior, today, in the senior team she seeks to start with the right foot .
One of its main objectives is to gain experience in this category of seniors where it will be measured against renowned rivals at the international level with which it begins its Olympic process towards Paris 2024.
“What I’m looking for is to have a lot of experience because when I change category I feel that change and it’s a very important step, but now I have to look for international competitions, because if I want to go to the Olympics I have to score points,” said the woman from Hidalgo.
The athlete is very aware of this big step in her sports career, a situation that makes her a little nervous, “I start to face opponents who already have a name who are Olympic and world medalists, it’s quite a challenge”.
The 20-year-old athlete has remained concentrated, along with the rest of the senior, youth and cadet team, in CONADE’s Villas Tlalpan, where they fine-tune technical details for the continental fair, which will bring together more than 230 competitors.
Another purpose for Hidalgo is to compete in the World Championship of the discipline, which for this cycle the International Judo Federation (IJF, for its acronym in English) modified the regulations, since from this year only athletes will be able to compete. that are within the top 100 places in the ranking.
