Covering more than 500 youth baseball teams The third generation of a long-established softball maker is “dual wield” | Full-Count

Yasuhiko Nagase, Chairman of Nagase Kenko, runs baseball media and writes his own manuscript.

The third chairman of a long-established manufacturer that manufactures and sells softball has a different face. An activity completely different from the company, he runs a baseball media that introduces youth baseball teams. One person handles everything from interview negotiations to manuscript writing and video shooting / editing. There was a reason he had been active for six years, despite being busy with his main business.

“Nagase Kenko”, which manufactures and sells softball, was founded in 1934 by Mr. Yasukichi Nagase. The current chairman, Yasuhiko Nagase, is the third generation, the grandson of Mr. Yasuyoshi. While being the top company in Japan that boasts the largest market share of softball, it operates the baseball media “Baseball Japan”.

Mr. Nagase started “Baseball Japan” in 2015. He has close ties to the Japanese-style baseball federation and traders, but on the other hand he rarely heard the voices of those who actually use the ball. “I wanted to hear the stories of the children and leaders directly,” she began interviewing the youth baseball team.

Of course, I have never written a manuscript or edited a video. He first gathered information about the team and made an appointment for the interview. Interview with the director and summarize the characteristics of the team in a manuscript while referring to the existing media. The manuscript contains various information such as team policy, practice time, parental involvement and activity costs. At first, the video was full of shooting, but with the advice of an acquaintance, I became able to use editing software. All the work is done by one person, and he laughs, “I’m the Gekidan Hitori.” So far, more than 500 teams have been interviewed.
