The new baseball season got underway at Ballpark Hard on Saturday. The Hard Bulls met the Feldkirch Cardinals in the Vorarlberg Derby, which took place in sunshine and with a full crowd.

In the first game, Jonas Zimmermann stood on the mound as the starting pitcher for the Bulls. Lukas Bickel initially pitched for the opposing side. Die Harder started the game with a brilliant first inning and immediately took a 7:1 lead. However, the guests from Montfortstadt didn’t give up and fought their way up to 10:8 by the 7th inning. But the Harders mobilized their strength once again and made a big showing: With a 3-run home run by Clayton Carson and a 2-run home run by Erwin Frias, the Hard Bulls finally managed a great 17:10 win.

In the second game everything went according to plan for the hosts. The performance of the new Japanese pitcher Hokuto Kanai, who didn’t have to accept a single run in 7 innings, was particularly outstanding. The team also harmonized extremely well on defense, which is why only very few errors happened. Another highlight on the offensive is Zeke Holt’s 2-run home run. In the end, the Hard Bulls were able to celebrate a deserved 12-0 win in the 7th inning.
