Queretaro Judo grows – Plaza de Armas

Judo in Querétaro is clearly on the rise, with work and the sum of the talent of coaches Nabor Castillo and Belarmino Salgado, as well as the forgers from the seedbed, such as Justino López, among others; proof of this was the third national place in the Tomoyoshi Yamaguchi tournament, the incorporation of judokas to the national team plus the recent Pan-American medals of Diego Díaz and the fifth place of Gilberto Cardozo.

With the addition of Nabor Castillo to the Querétaro coaching team, Olympic judoka in London 2012, a state team that is already beginning to give very good results is rounding out.

“Querétaro has Gilberto Cardoso who has to take advantage of this Olympic cycle and reach Paris 2024, Diego Díaz who has already joined that path, both are already part of the Mexican National Team and Santiago Cardoso who is going there, so Querétaro would have to three selected, a very good base, in addition to the I work with new talents that have been pushing hard”, highlighted Nabor Castillo.

For the Macroregional Tournament on April 22, Querétaro has prepared hard and will take 27 judokas, 14 men and 13 women to meet the goal of being able to classify some 20 athletes for the Conade national tournament. They join the Queretaro judo collective Justino López, who has a life dedicated to judo as a talent detector for children and youth, in addition to continuing to compete as a veteran, and other coaches such as Mario Páez, who is also a referee, José Rancaño, JosuéNogueira, Cedric Plouin, Alfredo Vázquez of the UAQ, all have created, together with the Judo Association of the State of Querétaro, a group that is beginning the harvest of national and international medals

“We are already in the sights of all the states, they have already turned to see us, they wonder what is happening in Querétaro and now that we have arrived, we have to continue climbing and stay at the top of judo in Mexico,” said Castillo, who says in a modest way that only comes to add and be one more coach

Part of the dream for Querétaro to consolidate itself as a national power and be an international benchmark is that a high-performance title can be developed in the state.

“One of my wishes in the medium term is to be able to generate an attraction village for judokas from Mexico and Latin America to raise their level. If we manage to establish a national center, the best judokas in the country would train and it would attract athletes from other countries who cannot always travel to the camps in Europe”, envisioned Nabor Castillo Pérez.
