Martin Schindler storms into the quarterfinals with a German record

Martin Schindler entered the quarterfinals of the German Darts Grand Prix with a new record. The 25-year-old threw a record average in the 6-1 win against Ryan Searle. After his world-class performance, anything seems possible.
Dhe old record was already seven years old. In 2015, Hanoverian Jyhan Artut played the highest average of a German on the European Tour in his match against Kim Huybrechts with a point average of 104.14. A record that was now broken on April 18, 2022.
With a world-class performance, possibly the best match of his career, Martin Schindler made it into the quarter-finals of the German Darts Grand Prix in Munich (live from 7 p.m. on DAZN and Sport1). The 25-year-old ended up with an average of 109.24 in a 6-1 win over top 16 player Ryan Searle.
Schindler, who is constantly climbing up the Order of Merit, was still at 113.43 after the 4-0 and closed his legs in twelve, 14, 16, eleven, 15 and again eleven darts – an outstanding performance. The pathetic Englishman, despite averaging 97.09 points, was only able to throw his first double in the sixth leg.
“I had already played well on the practice board, but it’s not that easy to show it in front of 3,000 people,” said Schindler, who was celebrated by the fans in the Zenith Hall.
“The Wall” now meets outsider Martin Lukeman in the round of the last eight. The number 74 in the Order of Merit was able to prevail against Keane Barry after his 6:3 victory on Easter Sunday against the German number one Gabriel Clemens. For the in-form Schindler it is the first quarter-finals on the European Tour in five years.
“It’s a lot of work, and a lot of sacrifice,” Schindler said after his coup on Searle, which included 14 shots of 140 points or more, including three 180s.
