PSG’s decision fell on Tuesday afternoon: Kheira Hamraoui will not participate in training with the Parisian group until the beginning of next week, i.e. after the Champions League semi-final return against OL (loss 3 -2 one way), scheduled for Saturday evening. The midfielder of the women’s section showed up at 3 p.m. this Tuesday in Bougival (Yvelines) for the resumption, where she was received by three Parisian leaders: Leonardo, sports director, Angelo Castellazzi, his deputy, and Ulrich Ramé , general manager.
After an interview lasting several minutes, Kheira Hamraoui was told that the club did not want her to take part in the collective sessions this week. A way to preserve the serenity of the group before tackling the shock return against the Lyonnaises. This weekend, the French international had been at the origin of a scuffle in training on the eve of the first leg. She then did not show up at the start with the Parisian group. She accepted management’s decision and left Bougival without meeting the rest of the workforce.
The three leaders also received the other players involved in last Saturday’s scuffle: Sandy Baltimore, Kadidiatou Diani or Marie-Antoinette Katoto. The latter were able to participate in the session on Tuesday afternoon in complete normality after a call for calm. The whole group was informed of PSG’s decision at the end of the day.
With this choice, the capital club is taking a step towards a future without Kheira Hamraoui, who in a few weeks has gone from victim of aggression to moral culprit in the eyes of her teammates and part of the public. The Parisian leaders know that the situation is explosive within the group between Hamraoui and executives like Kadidiatou Diani or Marie-Antoinette Katoto, who hold the former responsible for the police custody suffered by Aminata Diallo (released without charge) following of the November 4 attack.
As recalled on Monday, PSG has since been juggling between a judicial investigation still in progress and a very complicated management of relations between these players who no longer speak to each other and multiply more or less heated altercations. By putting Hamraoui out for several days, the club hopes to ease tensions. Especially since the sporting objectives still exist with the semi-final return of the Champions League to be negotiated on Saturday (9 p.m.) then the final of the Coupe de France to be managed well on May 15.
