The very promising son of Almami Moreira has won the Youth League with Benfica.
He has something to hold on to! Diego Moreira (17), son of former Rouche Almami Moreira (2001-2006) and grandson of Helmut Graf, also passed through Standard (1976-1982), is already a young champion. With his club Benfica Lisbon, the native of Liégeois offered himself a triumph this Monday in the Youth League by crushing Leipzig (0-6) in the final in Nyon, Switzerland.
“What is happening, I think is unheard of for a youth team”enthuses his grandfather who was watching the return of the heroes live on Portuguese television, this Tuesday afternoon, when we called him to talk about his grandson. “From the airport to the city center, everything was red and white on the side of the road. It’s crazy. And it will make exceptional memories for Diego.”
Already author of a recital in the quarter-finals in the derby against Sporting (0-4), with two goals and two assists, Diego Moreira once again shone by giving the last assist twice. “I have no words to describe what I feel”the young Belgian-Portuguese told Benfica TV. “It’s my first Youth League game and we won. I don’t know what else to say. It’s unbelievable.”
