The Valonsadero Badminton club participated in Medina del Campo (Valladolid during) this weekend in the first Top Master N2 for the sub15 category of the 2022 season, which brought together the best rackets on the national scene.
On behalf of the Soriana sports group, Carmen Carro and the first-year U15 volantistas attended the event: Ian Antón, Irene Gárate, Africa Gazo, Noel Romera and Hugo Sanz, being one of the clubs with the highest representation.
Carro was one of the stars of the event, winning the silver medal in the women’s singles event and the bronze medal in the mixed doubles event together with Álex Tur (Es Vedrá) from Ibiza. The volantista continues to prove to be one of the best national women’s rackets in her category, although on this occasion, and in a repeat of the final of the last Spanish Championship, she lost again to the Andalusian María Luisa Jiménez, teammates in the Spanish National Team, that with an important physical deployment it was overcome to a more technical proposal on the part of the soriana.
Good performance by Hugo Sanz in the men’s singles event, as well as by the mixed doubles couples Ian Antón-Irene Gárate and Noel Romera-África Gazo, which, however, did not allow them to access the final phase of the tournament in their respective events.
With these results, both Carmen Carro, Ian Antón and Irene Gárate ensure their participation in the Top Master Final N1 sub15 that will be held in Palma de Mallorca on May 14 and 15. Registration for this championship, newly created by the Spanish Badminton Federation, is reserved exclusively for the 8 best rackets in each event, making it one of the most attractive tournaments of the season.
In addition, this coming weekend, the Valonsadero Badminton, continuing with its intense competition calendar, will be present at three events: the Top TRR Castilla y León N7 for the sub17 category that will be held this Saturday in Soria and will be attended by of the sub17 Daniel Campos and Alberto Frías together with the sub15 Carmen Carro and Hugo Sanz, and the Top TTR Castilla y León and Madrid N7 sub15 that will compete on Sunday in Medina del Campo (Valladolid) and Guadarrama (Madrid) already those who will attend Irene Gárate and Ian Antón along with Noel Romera respectively.
