Risaralda schools are falling in love with badminton

The Risaralda Badminton League, headed by its president Natalia Flórez López and the departmental coach Willian Gutiérrez, continue to promote sports practice in the municipalities of the department.

As the last activity in April, they headed towards Santa Rosa de Cabal and Belén de Umbría, with the aim of showing the importance of this sporting activity in places where there are development poles.

“From April 18 to 22 we were accompanying the processes that are being carried out in municipalities such as Santa Rosa de Cabal and Belén de Umbría, supporting the development pole processes,” said Willian Gutiérrez, coach.

Likewise, the work with educational institutions does not stop. From the entity they are inviting the rectors and sports coordinators to experience the practice of steering wheel, which during 2021 was one of the most popular sports in Risaralda.

In Dosquebradas they shared experiences at the Bernardo López Pérez school. And in Pereira at the Liceo Pino Verde, all this simultaneously with the competition held by the top figure in the league, Juliana Giraldo, in Salvadoran territory. Educational institutions seek to promote values ​​through sport.

It is precisely that the league seeks to strengthen its base processes, providing pedagogical and motivational tools within educational institutions, since badminton as a sport helps improve the social skills of boys and girls, enhances emotional intelligence and reduces levels of exposure to bullying, since it allows safety elements to work among those who practice it.

Currently in Risaralda there are about 130 boys, girls, adolescents, youth and adults who have fallen in love with badminton.

Recently, the Ministry of Sports endorsed the linking of badminton in the national program of competitions for the Intercollegiate Games, this will allow the country’s educational institutions to expand their offer in sports electives.

Faced with this Willian Gutiérrez, pointed out:

“More and more educational institutions in the country show an interest in badminton, in Risaralda we are very well positioned in this matter because we are a power at the national level and we have the number one in Colombia. We are working hard for our young population so that they see opportunities for comprehensive development in these emerging sports. We invite principals, coordinators and professors to experience the game, we attend, we exhibit and we guide its implementation”.

Thus, Risaralda badminton contributes with sport as an educational tool, for the benefit of the young population of the department.
