On Sunday May 1, in the Pierre Lacaze multipurpose room and on the outdoor courts, the four finals of the internal tennis tournament were held, organized by the leaders of the ASCL and in particular by the two managers of the tennis section Peggy Lamazou-Betbeder and Christophe Combes.
80 players, from beginners to 15-4, had registered for this tournament, more than 30 participants compared to the previous tournament in 2019. This event had been interrupted due to the pandemic in 2020 and 2021. 104 meetings were programmed during the various confrontations.
Three finals took place in the multipurpose room due to threatening weather, the fourth on the outdoor courts.
Here are the results of the four finals:
– Single senior ladies: Marie-Catherine (or Cathy) Catalonia, from the Borde 64 club, wins over Nathalie Thèze (Barbazan-Debat) with the score of 1-6, 7-5, 6-2.
– Men’s singles: Gaëtan Lafuente (Ossun) wins over Baptiste Peyrou (Lescar) 6-2, 6-4.
– Men’s singles (over 35): Patrice Mathedarré (Pontacq) beats Benjamin Cuillé (Lourdes) 6-0, 7-6.
– Consoling: Julien Duclap (Séméac) beats Pierre-Jean Molinier (Pontacq) 6-2, 6-1.
Cups and gifts were given to the finalists. Christophe Combes thanked the players for their good humor, and also the members of the club for their involvement and dedication. Gifts were given to the main organizers. The municipal councilor Jean-Noël Aguer congratulated the players for their various services and the leaders for this perfect organization by wishing them to maintain this very attractive tournament. The friendship pot ended this sporting day.
