The Pamplona Navarra Arena pavilion hosted the Spanish Judo Championship for school age sports in the children’s and cadet categories, both male and female.
A total of 764 judokas from the 17 Autonomous Communities gathered on the tatami of the Navarra Arena. In addition, visually impaired athletes participated in that same championship.
Of the 30 judokas who represented the Community of Castilla La Mancha, only Sofia González Picazo from Albacete, from the Judo Club Albacete Escolapios-Formas, was able to qualify to play one of the finals for the bronze medal in the children’s category, which she managed to reach brilliantly.

Sofía González Picazo obtained this great victory not before without going through a very difficult path to achieve it. In her first match she had to face the representative from Cantabria, who won by Ippon (maximum score), in the second round she beat the Madrid woman also by Ippon, and in the third round she lost to the Basque representative, who in the end was the category champion. She then went on to fight for the bronze with the Catalan judoka which, after a difficult fight, she beat on points, achieving a great victory by wazari.
It was a great Sofia championship. The only judoka who managed to beat her was the champion of her -36 kilos category.
Another of the Albacete women who achieved a great result, with her fifth place among the 24 judokas in her +63 kilos category, was María Cifuentes Molina, a judoka from the Judo Club Albacete Escolapios-Formas, who came to compete for the bronze medal. She beat judokas from Madrid, Galicia and Navarra. She only lost to the Catalan, runner-up in her category, and in the final for bronze to one of the representatives from Madrid.
