National League Men | Judo Groebenzell

The state league climbers from Gröbenzell are defeated by TSV Grafing with 7:13 in the first battle of the season.

After the withdrawal of the regional league team around the turn of the millennium, SC Gröbenzell is sending a men’s team back into the race at state level for the first time in 20 years. As district league champions in 2017, the team around coach Marcus Geierhos rose last year.

TSV Grafing around the Bundesliga experienced fighters Valentin Larasser and Hendrik Eichner had traveled to Gröbenzell with a small but very powerful and experienced squad. The Gröbenzellers were able to fall back on an almost full squad, with Max Hasselbach (-81 kg) and Max Leubner (-90 kg) still missing two guaranteed points from the promotion season. Sunday, July 9th saw the high point of the season for the men’s team of 1.SC Gröbenzell. After an unbeaten season in advance, the Gröbenzell judoka qualified for the final round of the district league for the first time since 2009 and fought for entry into the promotion round to the state league. In four exciting encounters, the two winners of the district league south, TSV Teisendorf II and TUS Töging, met the two first-placed teams in the district league north, 1.SC Gröbenzell and JC Freising.
