Biscayan basketball received a tremendous blow on Monday night with the death of Alex Aurre Eguskizaga, 62, coach of the Junior women’s team of Loiola Indautxu, who was in Huelva playing the Spanish Championship.
He was a former Patronato player and coach for many years in Euskadi teams. He was a member of the coaching staff of the Irlandesas de LF2 and since 2009 he directed the Primera Nacional and the junior team of Loiola Indautxu. The Biscayan team faced and won 82-35 against CEI Toledo.
Immediately, the Spanish Basketball Federation showed its dismay at Aurrey’s death and conveyed its pain to family, team and friends.
