The British Masters, which begins this Thursday at the Belfry, is launching a “mini-championship” over four tournaments which will allow the ten best in cumulative points to validate their ticket for the US Open scheduled from June 16 to 19 at the Brookline Country Club (Massachusetts) .
Very important week in more ways than one on the DP World Tour with this British Masters 2022. High level tournament of the European circuit with the presence of 14 tricolors but also several headliners like the English Danny Willett, Lee Westwood and the title holder, Richard Blandhe is also launching a “mini-championship” over four tournaments (with the Soudal Open (12-15 mai), le Dutch Open (May 26-29, which will also deliver three spots for The Open à St Andrews) and the Porsche European Open (June 2-5)) which will allow the ten best in cumulative points (and who have no exemption) to validate their ticket for theUS Open at Brookline (June 16-19).
This is the third consecutive time that the European Tour has implemented this process whereas previously, prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, qualification within the European zone for the US Open was disputed over one day and over 36 holes on the sublime course of Walton Heath (England).
Last year, the English Marcus Armitage, Richard Bland, Dave Coupland, Jordan Smith et Matthew Southgatethe Belgian Thomas Detrythe Polish guy Adrian Meronkthe Finn Mikko Korhonenthe Italians Edoardo Molinari et Guido Migliozzi had ended in this famous top 10 and had therefore participated in the 121st US Open in history at Torrey Pines (California).
And Jon Rahm won ahead of the South African Louis OosthuizenGuido Miggliozzi, from this mini-race, had offered himself a superb final fourth place, four strokes behind the Basque!
