Cristina Teruel, 17 years old, has become the great revelation of the absolute Spanish Badminton Championship held in Madrid, achieving against all odds the title in the female category.
The young woman from Club Deportivo Bádminton Huelva beat Laura Santos in the final in three sets: 15-21/24-22/21-12 in one hour and 6 minutes of play. To reach the final she got rid of María del Lluch Martín 21-6 and 21-4 in 26 minutes; Clara Campos 21-13 and 21-17 in 32 minutes; of Nikol Carrulla by 21-11/23-25/21-13 in an hour of meeting; Y in the semifinals, Nelly Iriberri 21-15 and 21-8 in 32 minutes.
In men, the title also had Huelva flavor thanks to Pablo Abián (Recreativo IES La Orden) who defeated Enrique Peñalver in two sets in the end.
