It’s Friday the 13th again. A day when one or the other fears that everything will go a bit more wrong than usual. Of course, it doesn’t affect us here in Berlin much: We’re used to failure. As a contrast program, there is today’s podcast episode “Donuts & Pancakes” therefore 13 voice messages in which Berliners tell what works or has worked really well in their city: Be there Berlin’s Governing Mayor Franziska Giffey (SPD), who praises the admission of Ukrainian refugees („With a digital application process, we have already been able to quickly and unbureaucratically register more than 54,000 people in Berlin“) as well as the green one District Mayor of Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg, Clara Herrmann, who thanks for volunteering in the city: „People get involved in a variety of ways for their neighborhoods, for our city and their fellow human beings.“
Moderator Micky Beisenherz and journalist Nicole Diekmann also explain what works in the podcast. “Without exception, the taxi drivers in Berlin are all friendly“, says Mickey Beisenherz. Only the employees at the Berlin city cleaning department are even friendlier: „For a long time I lived in Berlin on a play street. And the rubbish collection was always the highlight for all the children. Also because die men from the BSR always had sweets in their pockets“, says Nicole Diekmann.
The author Peter Wittkamp and journalist Jörg Thadeusz report to BER. “I am totally enthusiastic about the automatic license plate recognition at Berlin Airport. Even with a credit card, totally modern”, says thadeusz. And Peter Wittkamp: „What works really well at BER Airport is getting there by taxi.“ At least.
