For FC Twente Women, the crucial match in the battle for the title in the women’s Eredivisie is scheduled this afternoon. With a win against PSV in the Grolsch Veste, Robert de Pauw’s team can no longer miss the title. Not even if Ajax manages to win today in the Kuip. The Tukkers have a much better goal difference and therefore have enough profit this afternoon to extend the title.
In Amsterdam they hope for a slip by FC Twente that last lost in the competition in September. The opponent was then also PSV, but in Eindhoven and not in Enschede. Ajax player Nikita Tromp knows how difficult it is to beat PSV.
“They have a nasty team. We have experienced it twice ourselves, including in the cup final. You could see the strength of the people of Eindhoven in that. At home we played 0-0. PSV also beat FC Twente at home.”
“We are on their heels. They really can’t lose anything. They must be nervous”, Tromp continues with bravado. However, Ajax has to visit arch-rival Feyenoord. The match will be played in the Kuip and the Feyenoord trainer has already indicated that he wants to hurt Ajax to help FC Twente to the title. So the question is who is more nervous now, FC Twente or Ajax? “We just need to get three points. It’s a crucial duel. If we don’t win, it’s done,” Tromp concludes on the Ajax club website.
Both FC Twente and Ajax will probably start the decisive game of the season on Saturday afternoon at 14:00. FC Twente Women asks for your support. Season ticket holders can take a seat for free, but must request a free ticket through ticketing.
