The UJC Dornbirn had the first day of competition in the 2nd Bundesliga on April 7th. It wasn’t an easy start with narrow defeats, but strong fights and a lot of team spirit.
Unfortunately, the first day of competition in the 2nd Bundesliga was not a success for UJC Dornbirn in terms of points. Unfortunately, Dornbirn was not able to win any of the 4 rounds, even if it was very close at times.
Difficult initial situation
However, the initial situation was not ideal. Unfortunately, some important fighters were eliminated in advance. Volkhard Stangl (-73 kg) was prevented, Jonas Fussenegger (-90 kg) was ill and Khangerel Batkhuyag (+100 kg) was injured. Thus, the team in the upper weight classes was sparsely occupied. Nevertheless, the judokas showed team spirit and gave their best. Dornbirn lost against JU Kirchham and JU Graz by a narrow 3:4, whereby the team could have won in both rounds. The team lost 5-2 to PSV Salzburg and 6-1 to Vienna Samurai. The Vienna Samurai were able to win all 4 rounds and lead the table. Sandro Hölzler (-81 kg) was allowed to fight against number 14 in the world rankings, Ungvari Attila, and Leon Nussbaumer saved the team from the 0:7 with his victory.
Strong fights despite defeat
Abdul-Rachim Khastaev (-60 kg), Leon Nussbaumer (-90 kg) and Gabriel Bretschneider (-100 kg) showed a strong performance, each winning two races. Manuel Wiesler (-66 kg), Sandro Hölzler (-81 kg) and David Böhler (-100 kg) each achieved a victory. But also the rest of the team with Matteo Gruber (-60 kg), Fabian Bereuter (-66 kg), Patrik Kaufmann (-73 kg), Sheikh Aliev (-73 kg) and Simon Pastor (-81 kg) proved up and down the mat team spirit. On the second day of competition on September 17th in Leibnitz, the UJC Dornbirn hopes to be in full force and to fight for a few team victories.
Sarah Wolfgang in the women’s Bundesliga
In addition to the 2nd Bundesliga, Sarah Wolfgang (-63 kg) also had two appearances for Team Tirol in the women’s Bundesliga. Anna-Lena Schuchter was injured.
Vache Adamyan in der 1. Bundesliga
The following day Vache Adamyan (-60 kg) had four fights in the 1st Bundesliga for the Judo Union Raika Flachgau. He was able to win a fight against the very strong competition.
