It is a strong gesture that the district of Val-de-Marne took on Saturday during its steering committee. With the departmental arbitration commission, he decided to appoint more referees until the end of the season, ie for the last two days. A strike that concerns all age categories, so around 500 games, with the exception of Division 1 (around thirty games). While there will be several decisive and high-stakes matches (accession, relegation), they will therefore be led by volunteer leaders of the teams playing the matches.
With this radical decision, the Val-de-Marne district, which manages 193 clubs in the department, expresses its deep dissatisfaction and issues a warning cry. Since the beginning of May, three referees have indeed been attacked. Two were headbutted and the other was pushed after a pitch invasion. The Disciplinary Committee took up these cases. The three attacked referees have already filed a criminal complaint.
“I proposed this drastic measure because we can no longer send the guys to the coal in this catastrophic context, they must be respected and their safety must be ensured. »explains José Dias, president of the Val-de-Marne Departmental Arbitration Committee on the Team’s website.
Although the number of attacks on referees has decreased, the level of violence has increased. This season, there have been many incidents in Île-de-France. At the end of March, a referee of the D2 meeting of District 77, disputed Melun FC (c) and the Entente Bagneaux-Nemours, had been prosecuted and then beaten. The district of Val-de-Marne has therefore decided to say stop.
