This May 25, was not one more. After three years, the civic-military parade once again took over the streets of San Luis, and the sport experienced it from within. A large delegation made up of more than 200 athletes represented clubs, federations and the different conventional and adapted disciplines that are practiced in every corner of the province.
The Argentine flag was carried by Micaela Luján, the boxer from Villa Mercedina who is the current IBF super flyweight world champion. Her escorts were the multi-champion cyclist, Tomás Moyano and the two-time Argentinian athlete in the 400 meter hurdles, Bruno De Genaro.
The Flag of San Luis was reserved for the GEPU basketball player, Gustavo Acosta, but he could not be present since his team played last night in Tucumán for the quarterfinals of the Federal Basketball League. In his place was the Quinense cyclist of the San Luis Continental Team, Lorenzo Díaz. He was escorted by the captain of San Luis FC, Amira Camargo and basketball player Maximiliano González.
The rest of the track was made up of part of the San Luis delegation that achieved the historic third place in the 2021 Binational Games, adapted athletes and representatives of the 30 federations and associations that bring together all the sports and athletes of San Luis, who represent the province in national and international competitions.
Among them, paraded the federations and associations of athletics, cycling, gymnastics, judo, water sports, paddle tennis, paddle ball, taekwondo, tennis, table tennis, Olympic wrestling, boxing, karate do and kobudo, skate, windsurfing, basketball, basket ball , handball, field and track hockey, underwater hockey, sport climbing, volleyball, chess, mountain biking and triathlon; the soccer leagues of San Luis, Villa Mercedes, Valle del Conlara and Norte Puntano with representatives of the clubs that comprise them; and the St. Louis Rugby Union.
“I am very happy because the parade was held again. It is a pride for me to parade together with the athletes of the province because we feel a very beautiful energy”, said Micaela Luján.
Bruno De Genaro, for his part, agreed on the emotion of “reliving this parade in San Luis” because “these were very difficult years, in which we had to stay at home, so living this is beautiful and seeing all the athletes enjoying themselves is great”.
