Saturday, May 28, at 17:00 Latvian Football 2nd League match between Ventspils Youth Football Club and FK Alliance team from Riga will take place in the central stadium of the Olympic Center “Ventspils”.
Last season, the JFK Ventspils team successfully started in the 3rd league of Latvian football, obtaining a ticket to the 2nd league, where it is also playing successfully this year and fighting for the opportunity to enter the league even higher. 16 teams start in the second league and they are divided into two regions – the Western Zone and the Eastern Zone. In the western zone, together with our JFK Ventspils, FK Karosta (Liepāja), Babītes SK (Babīte), FK Beitar (Rīga), FK Alliance (Rīga), Mārupe SC (Mārupe), FK Liepāja-2 (Liepāja) and FK Jūrnieks (Rīga) play ). The JFK Ventspils team has played three games this season, gaining two victories and playing in a draw with FK Beitar (Riga) footballers once, ranking 2nd in the tournament table.
In the continuation of the competition, the winners of the first four places in each zone will meet in the 2nd league of the 2nd league, taking only the results of each other’s games and playing a two-round tournament against teams from the other zone – that is, eight more matches for each team. The winners of the first two places in Group A will earn the right to compete in the Optibet Futures League in 2023, while the third place holder will take part in the playoffs with the 12th place winner in the Optibet Futures League.
