Big party at the Hotel Granduca with the “Umberto Ciabatti” section of the Sports Veterans Union of Grosseto where the athlete of the year was awarded. At the ceremony, awards were given to athletes, journalists, coaches, managers and clubs. Mattia Fioretti, star of the Maremma skaters, was awarded. The “Young emerging” award, on the other hand, went to the very young Anna Nerelli, tennis player of Ct Cimabue who in 2021 won the National Under 12 Kinder Master in Rome. Alessandro Sersanti, a twenty-year-old footballer who joined Juventus, the Under 23 category who received the “Corrado Festelli” award, was also awarded. The first “Andrea Malentacchi” memorial went to Manuel Mazzoni, international basketball referee who also directed matches of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Seventh edition of the Umberto Cavini memorial that awarded Alessandro Scapecchi, one of the great champions of the Maremma ring. The veterans association of sport also wanted to give recognition to the successor of Umberto Cavini of Grossetana Boxing, Fabrizio Corsini. Two special prizes were also awarded to boxing: to the European lightweight champion Giuseppe Carafa and to the young prospect Matteo Spaventi. Paolo Franzò received the award as “best sports journalist” while Adriano Buccelli, president of Atletica Grosseto received the “A life for sport” award. The sports operator of the year is Marco Bardi of spearfishing.
Also awarded were the motorcyclist Silvia Giannetti and Matteo D’Angella, physiotherapist from Grosseto at the Zenit of St. Petersburg. The commission also decided to include a memory of Lambert Ford, the unforgotten baseball champion. Other special prizes went to Alexandra Mostoghiu, who is trying to set up the women’s soccer team of the US Grosseto, Damiano Rosichini, world champion of beach tennis, the cyclist Rachele Chisci, the Bsc Grosseto for the promotion to the A1 series of baseball, the Skaters Club for the return to the top of hockey, the Grosseto coach and the Maremmana Arcieri Company.
