Johann Grünloh turns 17 on August 14; So he can still play in the U19s for two more years. The 2.09 meter tall basket hunter was honored as the best player of the year 2005 because he is also a powerful defensive player, according to the NBBL.
Already active for Löningen and Quakenbrück
Grünloh, who has also played for VfL Löningen and TSV Quakenbrück, scored 8.4 points, 8.3 rebounds and 2.5 blocks in an average of 24 minutes. “I’m very happy to have received the award,” he says.

YRD head coach Hendrik Gruhn is also delighted. “Johann totally deserves this appreciation,” he comments. “His development, especially in the last few months, is sensational. For our team, he has become a bigger factor week by week. Johann has had an impressive presence in the zone in the playoffs. So I’m really happy for him that he received an individual award.” Hanno Stein had previously looked after the former Quakenbrücker Landesliga basketball player.
