Created in 2008, the Ignatian badminton club, Les Fous du Volant, is doing wonderfully. With its 45 regular members, the association is dedicated to the practice of this sport as a leisure activity.
No competition at the sports complex, but matches between friends, passionate about this activity far removed from that practiced on the beaches. Badminton is a sport that is practiced in singles or doubles, indoors because the wind has a great influence on the trajectory of the very light shuttlecock (about 5 grams). Badistes must also be in good physical condition and possess tactical qualities because the opponent has to be pushed to make mistakes; the exchanges are very fast and require to be very reactive.
Reserved for adults
Jacques Thomas, the president, explains: “We are here to have fun and relax. We do a few friendly tournaments with the surrounding clubs but nothing serious. We don’t have a coach to progress, that’s why the association is reserved for adults. We are six retirees, the rest of the “troop” is made up of young workers”. The sports complex currently offers seven badminton courts. the annual membership fee is set at €30.
