Michael Lee Aday, I should say Marvin Lee Aday, it is his birth name that he will change in 1984 to be called Michael. Michael is a big fan of US football and will be part of his High School team throughout his schooling, which is pretty good when you know what it represents in the States. And that’s where, according to legend, comes his nickname, which will become his stage name: Meat Loaf !
His coach would have launched him, while he was stepping on his foot: “Get off my foot, you meat loaf! You’re gonna cripple me!”. He founded his first group in 1968. Thanks to his powerful voice, he was quickly noticed and opened for Van Morrison, the WHo and the Grateful Dead.
