Sofia CSKA head coach Pardu is resigning after the racist actions of the fans

The departure of the Pardyu club is based on the inadequate behavior of CSKA fans before the match against Plovdiv “Botev” last month, when four black-skinned players of the Sofia club were smeared with bananas.

“First of all, I want to thank the real CSKA fans for their support,” the 60-year-old English specialist was quoted as saying by the club. “I had the honor of working for CSKA, but my time here is over. The events before and after the match with Botev were not acceptable to me, my assistant Alex Daier or our players.”

Pardy became CSKA’s head coach only in mid-April, when he replaced Stoičo Mladenov.

Under the leadership of a British specialist, the team failed to achieve the main goals, as CSKA remained second in the overall standings of the Bulgarian Championship after Ludogorets in Razgrad, but conceded to another Sofia club “Levski” in the final of the cup.

During his coaching career, Pardy has led a number of English Premier League clubs, including Newcastle United, Southampton and London’s Crystal Palace.
