More than 600 sixth grade students participate in the III ‘EPI’ School Olympiad

The Department of Sports has organized the third edition of the ‘EPI’ School Olympiad. Initiation Sports School, for all Alcoy students who are in sixth grade. It is today, Tuesday, June 7, and it takes place from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Francisco Laporta Sports Center. After the pause due to the pandemic, it has been celebrated again.

About 600 students from all the educational centers of Alcoy participate, who have practiced the sports that have been taught in the EPI, athletics, unihockey, Colpbol, Korfball, Goalball, Judo, artistic gymnastics and Orienteering.

«The School Olympics represent a conclusion of the EPI, the Initiation Sports School, of the students who finish primary education. On this day they participate in tests of all these sports that they have practiced throughout this educational cycle. We want to emphasize that it is a day of participation and coexistence, “explained the Councilor for Sports, Alberto Belda.

We recall that the EPI was implemented in 2014, when the sports activities contemplated by the program left the extracurricular character to be included within school hours. Thanks to the EPI, and progressively, primary school students have their first contact with different disciplines such as judo, athletics, orienteering, unihockey, artistic gymnastics, goalball, colpball and basketball.
