It’s a job dating like no other that the development board of Saint-Lô Agglo offers business leaders and job seekers in the area: a meeting around sport and the principle of anonymity. An afternoon “Pentathlon of trades and employment” scheduled for Thursday, June 30, at the Saint-Ghislain gymnasium, in Saint-Lô, from 2 p.m.

Candidates and recruiters mixed anonymously

On the program, for job seekers and recruiters, an afternoon of 5 sports workshops – climbing, archery, basketball, badminton and collective motor skills course – to be carried out by teams.

Recruiters and candidates, all dressed in sportswear, will form teams anonymously:

Everyone will be on an equal footing during the workshops, which will make it possible to create other reports at the time of the interviews.

Interviews in shorts, without CV and without necessarily experience

The anonymity of the participants will be lifted at the end of the afternoon. Recruiters will briefly introduce themselves to candidates and offer them, if they wish, informal interviews of a few minutes. “Always in sportswear and without a CV”, specifies Virginie Renaud.

Objective: “Break the ice and put candidates at ease”.

Priority to candidates furthest from employment

All people looking for a job in the territory of Saint-Lô Agglo can participate in this sporting challenge (accessible to all). “It is aimed more particularly at young people under 26 who are unskilled or experienced, people in priority neighborhoods, RSA beneficiaries, people with disabilities, migrants, as well as people in professional retraining” , list the organizers.

Highlighting the know-how of candidates

They hope to attract at least 80 candidates. On the business side, there should be 40, “without difficulty”:

From the worker to the engineer, I do not know today a single sector of activity that is not looking for staff. Whether in the food industry, construction, catering or industry.

What will be appreciated during this sporting challenge, among the candidates? “Know-how, above all else. “The companies that will take part in this pentathlon have all the means to train in-house. They will therefore only pay attention to the human qualities of the candidates,” warns Virginie Renaud. Who adds: “Today’s candidates are no longer the same as before. Companies must adapt to this reality, hence the need to recruit differently. »

The balance of power has reversed. Previously, there were about ten candidates, or even more, per offer. Today, if there are two or three, it is already good.

The development council intends to register this pentathlon of trades and employment in the long term. An event organized with Pôle Emploi, the Local Mission, Cap Emploi, Gip Tandem, the Departmental Olympic and Sports Committee and the Normandy Region.
