Quebecer Eugenie Bouchard will return to action at the next Wimbledon tournament, since her name will be in the main draw, the WTA Tour said on Wednesday.

The 28-year-old earned a spot by virtue of her protected ranking – world No. 118 – allowing her to skip qualifying. The absence of Russian and Belarusian athletes, banned from competition this year due to the armed invasion in Ukraine, gave lower-ranked players the chance to hope for participation in the third major of the season.
Finalist at the All England Club in 2014, Bouchard has not played an official WTA event since March 2021 in Monterrey. She had surgery on her right shoulder about a year ago.
