The National Basketball Commission announced strong sanctions for the players involved in an unpleasant brawl after the basketball game between Capitalinos and Sancti Spíritus, corresponding to one of the semifinals of the Superior Basketball League.
The strongest sanctions fell on Capitalinos players Edson Standard and Raimil Cordero.
Standard, son of the late Franklyn Standard, one of the figures of the golden age of Cuban basketball, was separated for two years from all national and international events.
For his part, Cordero will not be able to participate in any national and international event in the remainder of 2022.
On the other hand, Daniel Simón, son of the former member of our National Teams, Roberto Simón, and brother of the stellar volleyball player Robertlandy, was separated from games 3 and 4 of the Play Off.
Meanwhile, Marlon Díaz and Héctor Martinto will not be able to play in Game 3 of the Play Off.
For the yayabero group no sanctions were announced.
Hopefully the Play Off continues its course and sportsmanship prevails and not violence in a sport that is quite physical.
