He has two passions, judo and video. Arnaud Bailswho has practiced audiovisual as an amateur since his childhood, has embarked on the production of a short film.

The story is inspired by Guillaume Verriez, a judo teacher (who plays himself), who reaches the black belt and dedicates this grade passage to his grandfather.

“It’s not the most original scenario, but it’s an initiatory quest filled with personal emotions,” explains Arnaud, who combined the judoka’s story with his own.

“It’s a film that wants to enhance the notion of transmission,” hopes the director, who brought out his grandfather’s kimono for the occasion.

For the club

The film is made with Quentin Capogrosso, 21, a sociology student and Guillaume Verriez, 24, an architecture student.

The scenario germinated during the period of confinement of the health crisis.

“That’s where I wrote the script. There were ten versions before starting the filming which lasted a year”, details Arnaud. Production started in March 2021.

“We had to call on voluntary extras and volunteers,” says Arnaud Bails, 24, a student in marketing and digital communication.

The municipalities of Louvres and Puiseux-en-France have supported budding filmmakers.

The communal dojo of Puiseux was used for the filming.

A fundraising campaign, through participatory fundraising, collected €1,140 which enabled the purchase of a camera, lighting and sound equipment.

An evening of screening and debate will take place on Saturday June 18, at 8 p.m., in the Bernard-Dague cultural space in the Louvres. More than 200 places are already reserved.

“It’s already a success on our scale,” rejoices Arnaud.

The proceeds from the ticket office should make it possible to finance the purchase of equipment for the Puiseux-Louvres judo club.
