Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve points skyward as he crosses the plate after hitting a solo home run against Chicago White Sox reliever Liam Hendriks in the ninth inning , to cap a 10-1 victory in Game 4 of the American League Division Series to advance to the AL Championship Series, Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2021, in Chicago.
Friday night’s Astros-White Sox game is televised exclusively on Apple TV, which means you won’t be able to catch it on the trusty AT&T SportsNet Southwest.
Apple TV is a subscription streaming service, but no subscription is required to watch the game; you just need to download the Apple TV app. To access the game, you can either launch the Apple TV app on your device – iPhone, iPad, Mac, smart TV, video game system, or at tv.apple.com – or use the MLB.TV app and tap Apple TV Game, which will redirect you to the game. You can also sign in to tv.apple.com and create an Apple ID to watch the game there. Apple breaks down all the ways you can watch its service here.
The Astros will pitch Framber Valdez (6-3, 2.64 ERA) against Chicago’s Lucas Giolito (4-2, 3.88 ERA) in the game, which begins at 7:10 p.m. It will be the first meeting between the teams since the Astros eliminated the White Sox in the American League Divisional Series last year. Earlier this week, ESPN’s Mike Wilbon said the White Sox were “afraid” of the Astros.
Apple TV has struck a deal with Major League Baseball to show games every Friday night. So far they have announced their Friday night baseball schedule through the end of July. The Astros, who have been on Apple TV once a month this season, will appear on the streaming service again when they host the Angels on July 1.
The Astros will also have a game on August 7 in Cleveland streaming exclusively on NBC’s Peacock.
