The final squad for the European Championship in England (6th to 31st July 2022) now consists of 20 field players and three goalkeepers. Voss-Tecklenburg has dropped Martina Tufekovic, Jana Feldkamp (both TSG Hoffenheim), Maximiliane Rall (FC Bayern Munich) and Sjoeke Nüsken (Eintracht Frankfurt) from the 28-man extended squad. Chantal Hagel (TSG Hoffenheim), who will be the 24th player to take part in the second European Championship training camp in Herzogenaurach (June 21-29) as a precaution, will not be going to the European Championship either.
In the end, only nuances decided, because the power density in our squad is very high.
Voss-Tecklenburg commented on the decision made in a press release as follows: “We have gathered a lot of impressions over the past few weeks and exchanged ideas intensively among the coaching staff. In the end, only nuances made the difference, because the performance density in our squad is very high. Every player did her best to make this decision as difficult as possible for us.”
